I had a 6-month contract to write/edit and manage all of the content for Glasgow Caledonian University’s new website, with a focus on the student recruitment pages. The new site went on to win an award at the 2010 HEIST Awards for education marketing for the best student recruitment pages among UK universities. It also won best website at the PRide Awards 2010.

As well as writing and editing, I completed a content audit and review of the entire site and helping to reorganize the content for the new site. I also wrote a Writing for the Web training guide for the content section owners and a Style Guide, both of which are still in use several years later.

Working with the internal marketing department and Different agency, it was a big job with a lot of different stakeholders and content owners to work with in a short time. I also optimized the content in specific sections for search engines, helping generate increased and better targeted traffic. This from the digital agency’s post-launch analysis:
