I started working life as a newspaper reporter, completing an in-house training program at a large newspaper publisher. I then worked as a magazine journalist for sports magazines before studying for a BA in Publishing and Anthropology, following which I got into corporate writing, copywriting and content marketing. Originally from Edinburgh, a backpacking trip to Canada led to a job opportunity with a fledgling branded content agency in Toronto – Redwood Custom Communications (now Totem Brand Stories) – in 2002. Over ten years later I’m still here – hitched to a Vancouverite, holder of a Canadian passport, owner of a pair of snowshoes, and a convert to the Canadian habit of serving food in strange but tasty combinations (cheese and gravy, maple syrup and everything…).
